How tuition fees already paid reduce your Student visa funds
Short answer
You only need to include outstanding first-year course fees in the calculation. A payment to your student sponsor can reduce that amount when it is confirmed on your CAS or by a receipt issued by the sponsor.
Start with the CAS figure
Use the course-fee amount stated on the CAS, then subtract qualifying course-fee payments that the sponsor has confirmed. The source of the payment is not what changes the outstanding tuition arithmetic; the sponsor’s confirmation is the evidence specified by ST 12.5.
A payment after the CAS was issued
Ask the university whether it will update the CAS record or issue a receipt. Do not assume that a card or bank-transfer record alone is the same evidence described in ST 12.5.
Living costs remain separate
Paying tuition reduces outstanding course fees. It does not reduce the monthly living-cost requirement. Sponsor-provided accommodation payments have their own separate and capped rule.
