“When can I get my statement, apply and attend biometrics?”
The UK Student visa 28-day and 31-day rules, explained
Short answer
Keep the full required amount for 28 consecutive days. Count those 28 days back from the closing balance on your newest financial evidence. That evidence must be dated within the 31 days before you submit and pay for the visa application.
The three dates are different
- Day 1 is the first day the full required amount is present.
- The closing-balance date is the final day of the 28-day period shown by your evidence.
- The application date is when you submit and pay online, not normally the biometrics appointment.
The balance cannot dip
The evidence must cover the whole holding period. If the combined eligible balance falls below the required amount on any day, that 28-day run does not demonstrate the requirement.
What the 31 days means
The 31 days is not an extra holding period. It is the maximum age of your newest financial evidence on the application date. A newer statement can be used, provided it still shows a complete qualifying 28-day period.
