“Will UKVI accept my savings account, fixed deposit or bank letter?”
Bank statements, savings and fixed deposits for a Student visa
Short answer
Current, savings and deposit accounts can qualify if the money is immediately accessible and the institution meets the verification, regulation and electronic-record requirements. The account label matters less than whether every rule is met.
Immediate access is the dividing line
Appendix Finance includes current, deposit and savings accounts, and some immediately accessible pension or investment accounts. It excludes shares, bonds, credit cards and funds that cannot be withdrawn immediately, regardless of a notice period.
Permitted forms of evidence
- Paper or downloaded electronic bank statements.
- Building-society passbooks.
- Certificates of deposit.
- Letters from a bank or building society.
The institution must be verifiable
Funds can be disregarded if satisfactory verification checks cannot be made, the institution is not appropriately regulated, or it does not use electronic record keeping.
