“I am a low-risk national—do I still need the money for 28 days?”

Low-risk nationalities and Student visa financial evidence

Short answer

An eligible nationality may mean you do not submit financial evidence upfront. It does not remove the financial requirement: you must meet it on the application date and be able to provide compliant evidence if requested.

Evidence relief is not a funds exemption

The GOV.UK guidance distinguishes between meeting the requirement and providing the evidence at the point of application. The decision maker can request the evidence during the application process.

Do not plan to fix the evidence later

Because the requirement must be met when you apply, receiving or seasoning the money only after submission does not make it compliant on the application date.

The list can change. Use the current GOV.UK financial-evidence page rather than an old forum post or saved checklist.

Where this answer stops

This page explains the published rule. If your account ownership, loan, sponsor, immigration history or evidence is unusual, ask your university’s international student adviser or an adviser regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority before applying.
