Can I use my parents’ bank account for a UK Student visa?
Short answer
Yes. A Student visa applicant can rely on money in a parent or legal guardian’s eligible account, but must provide proof of the relationship and written consent to use the funds.
The account still has to qualify
The parent or guardian must control the account, the money must be immediately accessible, and the full required amount must normally satisfy the same 28-day evidence rules as personal savings.
Extra documents
- Evidence of the parent or legal-guardian relationship.
- Written consent from that person confirming that you may use the money.
- Financial evidence meeting the account, balance and date requirements.
Do not confuse a parent with any relative
The parent exception does not automatically extend to siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles or friends. Those situations need a different eligible funding arrangement.
